About Halea’s Conservation Effort
The general objective of Halea is to protect and conserve the environment, in particular the marine and coastal environment of northern Ticao, with the center of focus at San Miguel Island. These consist of marine life including the corals, fishes and marine mammals, as well as the terrestrial life such as coastal forests, and plant and animal life.
A conservation program is already in place, with guards provided with motorized bancas deployed in the area by Halea. Over the past year, there has been a very perceptible improvement in the condition of the coral reef, and the reappearance of numerous varieties of coral fish.
